My Works for Your Glory
Christ my King, I don’t want to make works with my hands of my own production
that bring me praise and glory. Set me free from the curse of making a
name for myself and seeking men’s praise. Set me free from my own drive
to succeed that pushes away refreshing springs for liquid gold. Set me
free from the dream of wealth where my every sinful desire could be crowned.
Set me free from works that luster on computer screens but vanish under
sunlight. Let me be consumed with your glory—the glory of an Almighty
God known for immense power and everlasting love. Work in me Lord to produce
heavenly works that reveal your greatness. Let no one say that I am amazing,
or good, or praiseworthy. Let them say, “his God is great” and “let us
worship Jesus”. Let them see you in me, and join together in praise, that
we may delight in you who created all good things! Lord, I do not wish
to rob you of what is yours. May you be glorified and not me.
