That I May Preach Your Word

Jesus my Lord and God, fill me with your power and presence that I may preach your Word truly and boldly. Lord, I want nothing for myself or of myself. My empty words will not fill an empty heart, but your Word, O’Lord, will raise the dead. Move in me and through me and above me to produce your will. I want your people to hear your Word in your way, not by my musings or ignorant intelligence, but by your power and glory. I want them to be filled and stirred and warmed and lifted up so they may serve you God. I want them to know you—not me, to praise you—not me, and to love you—not me! I want to see your glory, not man’s fading glory, for where your glory is Lord there is worship. Move them by your presence and power that the house of the Lord may be filled with shouts of praise and joy to you, our good and holy God, whom we love and seek. May you reign Jesus, over me, my speech, and your people.
