What Cross May I Carry?

My Lord, what sacrifice can I offer that isn’t already yours? What do I have that isn’t your due? I have surrendered my life. Even my heart, the field of my desire, is yours. My heart is your home. May your will be my will.

Master, what do I have to offer? What does an ant have to offer a lion? Or a minnow to offer a whale? Does the sun take notice of the moon? Even my best is but bitterness next to your full savor. Even if I could build you a house as grand as the temple of Solomon, it would only be covered in filth from blood stained hands. I offer you myself, but of myself I am ashamed. Should filthy rags serve as linens at the King’s table?

Oh Lord, how I love you. How can I thank you? I have nothing. I am nothing. I am eager for your gifts. Bestow upon me your holy power that I may serve the Almighty. Give me a work that I may glorify your name. Discipline me that I may be your disciple. Send me that I may represent you.

Oh Lord, you carried your cross for me. What cross may I carry for you?
